Margaret “Denny” DeNarvaez

Margaret “Denny” DeNarvaez is the president of Adept Health who has held executive-level operations and finance positions at various healthcare organizations. She has been with Adept Health since May 2015.

Prior to joining Adept Health, DeNarvaez served as president and chief executive officer (CEO) for Wellmont Health System, a $1 billion system in the Tri-cities of Tennessee and Southwest Virginia. Her responsibilities included oversight of an integrated healthcare delivery system consisting of six acute care hospital facilities and one critical access hospital with a total of 1,253 licensed beds, as well as an additional acute care hospital with 100 licensed beds that Wellmont operated through a joint venture. In addition, DeNarvaez was responsible for overseeing the full continuum of post-acute services including a nursing home, hospice house and assisted living facility.

DeNarvaez also served as president and CEO of St. John’s Mercy Health Care in St. Louis, Missouri and senior vice president of regional markets for Sisters of Mercy, the eighth largest Catholic health system in the nation. In this role, she managed $2.5 billion in revenue generated by system entities in Missouri and Oklahoma, with a total of 2,218 beds, 14,797 co-workers and 2,984 physicians combined. Prior to St. John’s Mercy Health Care, DeNarvaez served as CEO of Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the flagship of the Allina Healthcare system and as CEO of Florida Medical Center in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

DeNarvaez is a certified public accountant and holds a bachelor’s degree of business administration in accounting from Fort Lauderdale University.

Dave Garrett

Dave Garrett joined Novant Health in October 2008 as their Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer. He is responsible for the planning and execution of corporate information technologies and telecommunications for the entire Novant Health system.

>Dave brings over 40 years of IT experience in banking, hospitality and healthcare. 30 years of which have been in healthcare. Prior to his current position, Dave was the SVP & CIO at Palmetto Health in Columbia South Carolina and CIO at Baptist Health Care in Pensacola Florida. Dave has had the opportunity to work with organizations that have been named the 100 Most Wired, Fortune’s 100 Best Places to Work in America, Computerworld’s 100 Best Places to Work in IT, and recipient of the 2003 Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award.

Dave is a member of Health Information Management and Systems Society (HIMSS) and the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME).

He holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Central Florida and a master’s degree in business management from Troy State University.


Jason Harrell

Jason Harrell is the senior director of clinical improvement for Adept Health. He is responsible for developing, implementing and monitoring clinical improvement efforts across the organization. Harrell has worked in healthcare for more than twenty years.

Before joining Novant Health as a senior director of clinical improvement in 2005, Harrell was an adult nurse practitioner at Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center, Novant Health Urgent Care & Occupational Medicine – North Point and Samaritan’s Clinic. He also worked as a heart failure program manager during his tenure at Forsyth Medical Center, where he played a key role in clinical outpatient management of heart failure patients.

Harrell has a baccalaureate degree in nursing from East Carolina University, a Master of Science in nursing from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a master’s certificate in informatics from the University of Colorado Denver. Harrell is also a Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) and has served as a board member of the North Carolina Association for Healthcare Quality in the past.

For the past 18 years, Harrell and his wife have been involved with Serge ministries by supporting missionaries and healthcare workers serving in Burundi, Kenya and India.

Lori Johnson

Lori Johnson, BS, CPA is the senior director of implementation with Adept Health. In this role, she is responsible for the implementation of all supply chain savings opportunities for Adept Health partners. This includes working with partners to analyze, identify and track supply chain savings. Johnson is also instrumental in managing and leveraging vendor relationships for the benefit of our partners.

Johnson has held several positions within corporate finance, most recently as the director of finance within supply chain. In that role, she was responsible for finance, acting as the liaison between supply chain and corporate finance. She led the supply chain integration for all mergers of new facilities. She was also responsible for strategic sourcing implementation, supply chain information services and purchasing functions.

Johnson graduated from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro with a bachelor's degree in accounting. She is a Certified Public Accountant in the state of North Carolina and is currently working on a joint Master of Healthcare Administration and Master of Business Administration degree at Pfeiffer University.

Johnson is currently a member of the NCACPA and AICPA, having served in the past as a board member of the local NCACPA chapter. She has served as treasurer for several community associations. She is a member of the United Way Women’s Leadership Council and volunteers within Forsyth County Public Schools.

Parker Marsh

Parker is senior director of implementation for Adept Health. In this role, Marsh develops and leads the strategic partner relationships for Adept Health. In his first year Marsh led implementations that yielded over $5 million in strategic sourcing related savings for Adept Health partners. In addition, he manages the delivery of both strategic and operational improvement projects.

Marsh spent nine years with Premier Inc., in consulting and sourcing roles. During his tenure, Marsh operated Premier’s ACO Collaborative with over 140 hospital members. He also led strategic population health contracting consulting engagements. As a manager of strategic sourcing, Marsh negotiated strategically significant contracts for physician preference items, capital equipment and purchased services.

Marsh graduated from the McColl School of Business at Queens University of Charlotte, North Carolina, with a Master of Business Administration (MBA). He completed his undergraduate studies at North Carolina State University with a bachelor's degree in business administration.

Marsh is actively involved in the Charlotte community. He is an avid runner and cyclist and serves on the board of the Stratford Richardson YMCA. Marsh is also involved in the Greater Charlotte Healthcare Executives Group, volunteers locally and is a member of Myers Park United Methodist Church.


Claire Pappas

Claire Pappas is the business development officer for Adept Health. Since joining Adept Health in 2013, Pappas has focused on developing new business, growing existing business partnerships and expanding core capability offerings.

Pappas brings years of industry experience in business development in sales and marketing. She has held leadership sales positions with EndoGastric Solutions, St. Jude Medical and Signalife, Inc., managing sales territories up to $20 million.

Pappas holds a bachelor's degree from Belhaven College. She is a current member of the Mecklenburg Medical Alliance and Endowment and an active member in the Charlotte community serving on the local St. Jude Children’s Hospital committee. She is also a frequent committee member and fundraiser for organizations such as the American Cancer Society and the American Heart Association.

Sheila Parker

Sheila Parker is the vice president of information technology services strategic growth for Adept Health. In her role, Parker is responsible for the development, oversight and implementation of information technology services at Adept Health.

Parker joined Novant Health in 1997 and has held a variety of leadership roles, including senior director of information technology services strategic growth, senior program director of Dimensions Ambulatory and information technology director of ambulatory applications.

Prior to joining Novant Health, Parker was the regional hospital director of information systems at what was previously known as Columbia/HCA Healthcare’s Presbyterian Orthopaedic Hospital and Davis Medical Center in Charlotte. She was also an information systems manager for Home Health Agency of Chapel Hill and a GSA contracts manager for Government Technology Services in Chantilly, Virginia.

Parker received her Master of Business Administration at Pfeiffer University and graduated from Appalachian State University with a bachelor's degree in business administration in information systems. She is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) and was chosen as a Leadership Novant Fellow in 2008.

Curt B. Shaw

Curt Shaw is the chief operating officer for Adept Health. He played a critical role in the development of the division and his responsibilities include oversight of the ongoing operations of Adept Health, client relations and business and product development. Shaw previously served as the corporate vice president of financial planning and analysis for Novant Health. He was responsible for the capital process including business analysis and working with senior leadership to develop a comprehensive capital plan. He also partnered with real estate to lead the monetization of owned real estate in two separate transactions resulting in over $240 million of proceeds.

Shaw was an assistant vice president of corporate and investment banking finance with Wachovia Corporation and a senior auditor with Arthur Andersen, both in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Shaw graduated from the Kenan Flagler Business School at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a master's degree in accounting and a bachelor's degree in business administration. He is a certified public accountant in the state of North Carolina and member of the Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA).

Shaw is actively involved in the Charlotte community and serves on the nonprofit boards of the Charlotte Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure and MeckEd.


Cedric Terrell

Cedric Terrell is the senior vice president of pharmacy for Adept Health. In his role, Terrell provides strategic leadership for pharmacy services including inpatient, ambulatory, retail, home delivery, specialty pharmacy, and call centers.

Prior to joining Novant Health, Dr. Terrell was the assistant vice president of clinical and diagnostic services at Palomar Health. He has an extensive track record of developing and implementing pharmacy practice services, therapeutic programs and protocols, medication utilization reviews and supervising pharmacy clinical programs.

In the past, Dr. Terrell has served as an associate professor of pharmacy clinical practice to multiple affiliate colleges of pharmacy. He is also an active member of the American Society of Health System Pharmacists.

Dr. Terrell earned his doctorate degree in pharmacy at Florida A&M University’s College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences and Master of Healthcare Administration from Simmons College’s School of Management.

Brian Yates

Brian Yates is the Vice President of Managed Facilities for Adept Health. He provides executive oversight and accountability for all Adept Health managed facilities. Yates has served in various operational leadership roles in acute care environments, physician group practices, independent diagnostic testing facilities, revenue cycle management and has experience in both for-profit and not-for-profit community health systems.

Previously, Yates focused on operational excellence and quality as the chief executive of Novant Health Gaffney Medical Center. In his first year; operating cash flow improved 42%, contribution margin increased 77%, reimbursement increased 9%, and expenses decreased by 2%. Under Yates’ leadership, Novant Health Gaffney Medical Center was recognized by The Joint Commission as a Top Performer on Key Quality Measures for 2013 –Hospitals Exceeding Measure Requirements. Only 44 Top Performer hospitals in the country received this recognition, and this was the only hospital in South Carolina to receive this distinction.

Yates has also served as the Director of Operations for Novant Health Medical Group where he was responsible for strategic physician practice growth for the medical group’s South Carolina market. While in this role, Yates partnered with information services to lead the operational EPIC implementation across 270 physician practice locations in five months.

Before joining Novant Health, Yates was an Area Practice Administrator for Health Management Physician Network at Health Management Associates. In this role, he was responsible for building the physician network and revenue cycle management functions within the upstate South Carolina market. Earlier in his career, Yates served as Center Manager and Business Office Manager for MedQuest Associates, Inc.

Yates graduated from the University of South Carolina with a bachelor's degree in biology. He is actively involved in the community and serves as an executive board member of the Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce, United Way of Piedmont Cherokee advisory committee member, Spartanburg Community College Cherokee Campus advisory committee member and as a member of the Cherokee County School District strategic planning committee.

Maria Tull

Maria Tull is a client services manager for Adept Health. Tull supports Adept Health by facilitating strategic planning effort, growing customer relationships and identifying strategic growth opportunities.

Tull previously held the position of strategic planning manager in the greater Charlotte area where she supported four main facilities, three submarkets, a growing medical group and all major service lines, including women’s services, orthopedics, oncology, neurosciences, cardiac and vascular as well as a children’s hospital. Prior to the manager position, Tull worked in a variety of other capacities within the strategic planning department for six years.

Tull is originally from Rock Hill, South Carolina. She graduated with a bachelor’s degree in marketing management from Virginia Tech and earned a Master of Business Administration from the University of Georgia.

Tull dedicates her time outside of work to her family and to serving within her community. She is active in her church, volunteering in children’s ministries.


Patrick Masciangelo

Patrick Masciangelo is a senior business associate for Adept Health. Since joining the team, Patrick has led the creation of medical staff development plans, market share analysis, and strategic planning, while evaluating additional savings and operational improvement opportunities for Adept Health partners. Patrick has worked in healthcare for nearly ten years.

Prior to joining the Adept Health team, Patrick worked at The Advisory Board Company. Most recently he was a senior dedicated advisor, consulting with health systems across the country focused on improving employee and physician engagement to align organizational culture to strategic plans, enhance employee and provider productivity, and improve clinical outcomes. Patrick spent five years working in clinical settings as a physical therapy aide and a patient care assistant, specializing in neurological and stroke patients.

Patrick graduated from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio with a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology, and a minor in business management and organizations.

Patrick is a native of Columbus, Ohio. He is involved in the Greater Charlotte Healthcare Executives Group, and Pelotonia. In his spare time, Patrick enjoys spending time with family, participating in triathlons, golfing, and traveling.

Bridget Neibergall

Bridget Neibergall joined Adept Health in January 2015. At Adept Health, Bridget primarily focuses on the data analytics side of savings opportunities and contract implementation for our partners. She also serves as project manager on operational projects.

Prior to joining Adept Health, Bridget worked as a business consultant for the MIL Corporation, as a government contractor for the Department of State’s Global Financial Operations center in Charleston, South Carolina. Within this role, Bridget served as a financial systems liaison between technical and accounting operations staff.

Bridget formerly served as a strategic planning manager with Strata-Decision Technology in Chicago, Illinois, providing financial and IT system expertise and consulting support for healthcare clients utilizing Strata’s long-range financial planning software. Her role comprised the customization of financial models, on-site and web-based user trainings and the implementation of single site and multi-facility healthcare systems to an integrated software platform.

She hails from southern Illinois and graduated from the University of Illinois -- Urbana-Champaign with a Bachelor of Science in Finance. She is currently an MBA candidate at Queens University of Charlotte.

Lisa A. Cheatham

Lisa Cheatham is an implementation manager for Adept Health. Cheatham supports Adept Health by implementing supply chain projects as well as managing integrated contracts, providing clinical support, and customer relationships for all accounts.

Cheatham previously held the position of value analysis nurse where she served as a clinical liaison within supply chain on coordinated trials, implementations and standardization opportunities across all Novant Health acute care facilities and physician practices. Prior to developing her supply chain expertise, Cheatham worked in a nursing leadership role in cardiac services for Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center in Charlotte, North Carolina, where she focused on improving outcomes and patient satisfaction while streamlining processes, as well as maintaining budget and cost opportunities.

Cheatham is originally from Tampa, Florida. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Winston Salem State University and earned a master’s agree in healthcare administration from Ashworth College in Atlanta, Georgia. While in nursing leadership, she received her certification in critical care nursing (CCRN).

Cheatham dedicates her time outside of work to her family and to improving the health of her community. She is active in fundraising and awareness campaigns for colon cancer, Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, Alzheimer’s disease and ovarian cancer.
